Darren Covar earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology and a Master’s and Specialist’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling, all from the University of Florida. During his undergraduate years Mr. Covar earned an athletic scholarship and in graduate school he received a Minority Fellowship Award. Mr. Covar began his professional career as a High School Guidance Counselor working with ESOL students from other countries. He enjoyed working with this population because they had such a desire to learn English and live the American dream.
Philosophy
Our History
After 8 years in the school system, Darren wanted to help people in a more active role. With two young children at home, Mr. Covar took a risk and enlisted in the police academy. He started his law enforcement career working as a police officer on the midnight shift. It was there that he discovered his passion and proficiency in making DUI arrests. Mr. Covar enjoyed the technical aspects of DUI arrests and the courtroom battles so many other officers avoided. After 6 years on the road, he became a Special Agent for the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco. There he excelled in the field of Fake ID Identification. He taught classes in this field to many local police departments as well as classes to the BOPE who came all the way from Rio De Janeiro. Mr. Covar worked with the FBI and ICE to target criminals preying upon the local Brazilian and Hispanic population. He received numerous awards from the FBI and other agencies during the span of his career.

After 20 years of public service, Mr. Covar decided to go back to school. He enrolled in Nova Southeastern Law School and was a Leo Goodwin Scholarship recipient. In law school, Darren received numerous awards which he credits to his work experience as a police officer and Special Agent. “Having the law enforcement background gave me insights and advantages my fellow classmates just didn’t have.”
Mr. Covar utilizes the special set of skills he has obtained over 20 years to assist his clients in a variety of situations. Above all else is his underlying principle of honesty and fairness.
